Project Update: Fort Bend County ESD No. 6 Fire Station No. 1

We're making significant progress! Concrete pouring is complete for the remaining sidewalk areas, the main entrance, and both interior and exterior metal pan stairs. Currently, the metal soffit and gutter work are in progress, alongside diligent work from our MEP subcontractors indoors.

We're also focusing on completing the exterior skin, along with window frames and glass installations. Today marks another milestone as we set the generator pad and install light poles for permanent power.

Stay tuned as we edge closer to compPleak Fire Department FBC ESD #6FPGALSD #6 PGAL

Check out this before and after of the Dallas Love Field Thermal Tank Refurbish project. What a difference!

This project involved removing the current tank skin, followed by blasting, re-coating, and applying new insulation and tank skin. The Straight Line Industrial Services, INC. crew, along with our Superintendent, tirelessly worked a 7-day week schedule to get this completed. We are proud of our team and all those involved in seamlessly executing this project. Well done!

Meet Michelle Brockway, our General Counsel with a unique career journey from English teacher to litigator to construction law enthusiast. At CBG, she manages risks, problem-solves alongside her colleagues, and enjoys learning from experienced builders. Michelles advice for those considering a career in construction, especially women, is to embrace the endless opportunities. When shes not immersed in legal matters, youll find her engrossed in a good book, experimenting in the kitchen, or exploring on foot. Michelle brings a contagious and vibrant energy to our team. We are lucky to have her as part of the CBG family!

Day in the Life - Roger H.

Meet Roger H., Safety Manager for CBG’s Commercial Division.

What does a normal work day look like for you?
There’s not many normal days. They vary from checking trenching, scaffolding, fall prevention-protection, crane lift plans, forklifts and motorized equipment, and answering OSHA questions; but mostly about protecting fingers, toes, and the CBG Brand. A great day is a day where a positive impact is made in the workplace or someone’s life.

What qualities are important to have in your role?
It is important to be compassionately firm.

How did you get started in construction?
I started ironworking at 16 in a family-owned business. I was in the US Air Force in 1971-74, then back in construction until the 1983 construction bust. I bought a Sears toolbox and started working in a dealership. I figured if I could fix airplanes, I could probably fix cars. I was right. In 1988, I achieved ASE and Ford Lincoln Mercury Master Mechanic. I was back in construction in 2007. In September of 2017, I started with CBG cleaning a site after Harvey as a subcontractor. Mark hired me that November. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to work in several disciplines with CBG: HVAC, roofing, steel erection, building restoration and remodeling to name a few. Now I’m the commercial division safety guy.

What advice would you give someone in your role?
Be where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be there, document everything, and be mindful of what you publish.
